DORGAN WINSTON-SALEM - Richard Joseph Dorgan (Dick), 70, of Winston-Salem, went to be with the Lord on September 3, 2009. He was the son of John and Dorothy Dorgan of Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Dorgan was a member and financial secretary of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. Mr. Dorgan proudly served his country in the US Army in the area of Intelligence. He was a former employee of Wachovia Bank, a former member of Old Town Country Club, and Chairman of the Board at Center Point and ARCA. Mr. Dorgan was a graduate of Notre Dame University where he also played freshman football. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dorgan is preceded in death by a daughter, Erin Dorgan. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Catherine Dorgan; son, John Dorgan and fiancee Andrea Weed of Birmingham, Al; daughter, Megan Wood of Charlotte, NC; step-sons, Eric Fritts (Wendy) and Sam Fritts (Courtney); step-daughter, Wendy Jones (Jonathan); brother, Terry McGivern; sisters, Dee Benson, Joan Dorgan, and Annie Kern; grandchildren, Michael Wood, Chelsea Wood; step-grand-children, Jasmine Jones, Gracie Fritts, Will Fritts, and Charley Fritts; great grandchild, Hailey Wood; and many wonderful and valuable friends as well as members of his beloved fellowship. He was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2009 (5:00 to 7:00 p.m.) at Vogler and Sons Reynolda Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 7, 2009 (10:00 a.m.), at Holy Family Catholic Church, with Father Tri Truong officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to Samaritan Ministries, 1243 N. Patterson Ave., Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
