
Barbara Chatman Upchurch, 62 of High Point died Saturday at her home. Born December 25, 1953 in Winston-Salem she is a daughter of the late Arch Junior Chatman and Mary Margaret Seivers Chatman. Barbara is a 1972 graduate of East Forsyth High School. She retired in 2012 after 42 years with Wachovia/Wells Fargo Bank. She was a passionate volunteer for Project Racing Home which benefits greyhounds. Barbara will be remembered as a loving wife, supportive mom and affectionate grandmother referred to as Gammy.
She is survived by her husband Gordon Upchurch of the home and two children; Blaine Jarrett and wife Amy of King and Bobby Jarrett and wife Michaela of Greensboro. Also surviving are two granddaughters Holly and Anna Jarrett and her four legged kids Lola, Cassie and Gemma.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Barbara Chatman Upchurch will be held 5:30 pm Monday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point with the Reverend Sidney R. Lanier officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
