Gordon Upchurch

Herbert Gordon Upchurch, Jr.  75 of Greensboro passed away Tuesday April 9, 2024, at Beacon Place.  Born October 19, 1948, in Scotland County, he is a son of the late Herbert Gordon Upchurch, Sr. and Mildred Deaton Upchurch.  Gordon lived his entire life in North Carolina, growing up in Lexington and living in Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Kernersville, High Point and finally Greensboro. Gordon retired from Wachovia/Wells Fargo and was known as a food connoisseur.  He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara.

Gordon is survived by two sons, Blaine Lee Jarrett and wife Amy of King, Bobby L. Jarrett and wife Michaela of Greensboro and two grandchildren, Holly Jarrett and Anna Jarrett.  He is also survived by a sister, Susan Upchurch Stiller and husband Tim of Bolivia, NC, best friend John Echerd and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Gordon Upchurch will be held at 11 am on Friday, April 12, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point with the Reverend Sidney Lanier officiating.  The family will greet friends at the funeral home following the service..

The family would like to give a special thank you to the care staff at Beacon Place and especially to Gordon's nurse, Kat.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Beacon Place at Authoracare Collective, 2502 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405.

From my days in computer operations, I remember Gordon as kind person with a good sense of humor. He always seemed to have a big smile on his face and projected a super positive attitude.
