IN MEMORY

Linda Butler

On April 15, 1952, in Spartanburg, SC, the world welcomed a beacon of light, Linda Gail Butler. Born to the late Johnny and Ozzie B. Dawkins, Linda's journey began with love and promise. Linda's early years unfolded in Greensboro, NC, where she graduated from Dudley High School in 1970. It was during this time that she intertwined her fate with her high school sweetheart, the late McReadell Butler, Sr. Together, they nurtured a beautiful legacy, and had their only son, McReadell Melton Butler, Jr.

Shortly thereafter, Linda embarked on a career with Wachovia Bank, where she devoted 27 years of diligent service. Her commitment to excellence was unwavering, earning her admiration and respect from colleagues and clients alike. After retiring, Linda's passion for service led her back to the workforce for twelve years at Blue Cross Blue Shield before retiring for a second time. But Linda's true calling extended beyond the confines of the professional world. As a faithful member and deaconess of Union Baptist Church, she exemplified the virtues of compassion and generosity. Her steadfast presence and tireless efforts enriched the lives of all who crossed her path.

On April 11, 2024, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, surrounded by her family, Linda bid farewell to this earthly realm. Left to honor Linda's memory are her beloved son, McReadell, Jr.; his wife, Christy; three cherished grandchildren, Macayla, Madison, Christopher; and one great granddaughter, Kaomi. She is also survived by her siblings, Katherine, Patricia, Cynthia, Angela, and Johnny, Jr.; three devoted sisters-in-laws; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
