Tega Cay, South Carolina - Timothy Clifton Ogburn, born July 31, 1941, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2023.
Born in Raleigh and raised in Garner, NC, he graduated from East Carolina University and was a diehard Pirate right up until the day he passed. Tim was a loyal Senior Vice President at Wachovia Bank for 37 Years. During this time, he developed lifelong friendships that he maintained until his passing.
Tim moved to Clemmons, NC in 1970 and raised a family. He was very active in the community serving various positions for the Clemmons United Methodist Church, Clemmons Volunteer Fire Department, Boy Scout Troop 736, as well as a coach for both his children in sports. If you knew Tim, you knew what a character he was and that he loved to enjoy the company of the close friendships he cherished. His Clemmons friends were very special to him.
Tim moved to Columbia, SC after the passing of his first wife, Sara, and was blessed to have met his second wife, Nancy. They enjoyed life on Lake Murray for many years. He will be known for his quick wit, love of all things ECU Pirate Athletics and his love for his communities who affectionately referred to him as "Mayor".
Tim leaves behind family that will miss him dearly. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Nancy Porter Ogburn of Fort Mill, SC, daughter, Wrenn Dees (Abbott), son Cliff Ogburn (Joy), and step daughter Brittany Rolfe (Joel). He loved his grandchildren more than anything - Josh Dees, Charlie Dees, Sara Dees, Olivia Dees, Mayson Ogburn, Ella Ogburn, Sophia Rolfe and Weston Rolfe. He was also fortunate to have nieces Connie Cochrane and Mary Dean Richards (Terry), nephews Jack Ogburn, Dan Ogburn (Martha) and Art Howell (Phyllis) along with his sister-in-law, Jessie Ogburn who cared for him deeply.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Chester Ogburn and Lillie Eva Wrenn, his first wife Sara Louise White, his sisters, Dorothy Howell, Lillian Cochrane, and his brother Tom Ogburn.
The family would like to thank Dean Browder for his constant friendship and all those at Wellmore Assisted Living for their patience and care.
A graveside service will be conducted by Tim's brother-in-law, Larry Godwin, Dec. 2, 2023 at 2pm at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons.
