Irene Prevette Ward, 85, passed away peacefully from this world and into the loving arms of her savior, Jesus Christ on October 6, 2024. She was born on May 20, 1939 to Clifton and Minnie Prevette in Wilkes County. Mrs. Ward took a teller position at Wachovia Bank following her marriage to Donald Lowe Ward on January 23, 1960. She excelled at her job there and upon her retirement in 1995, she was a vice president in her area. Irene was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She was very outgoing and made friends everywhere she went. She was a member of Old Richmond Evangelical Methodist Church where she attended faithfully as long as her health allowed.

Irene is preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Prevette and Betty Brown, and a brother, Kelly Prevette. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Donald Ward; two children: Ricky Ward and wife Terri and Amy Parrish and husband Chris; one grandchild Brandon Ward (Cathy Lee) ; two step grandchildren: Christopher Parrish (Sharyn) and Kendall Parrish; one great-grandchild, Kylie Ward, one step-great-grandchild, Talon Parrish; one sister, Bonnie Howard; and two brothers: Kenneth Prevette wife Elizabeth and Eric Prevette wife Jenecca.

A celebration of life was held at Old Richmond Evangelical Methodist Church.
