IN MEMORY

Rhonda Adams

 Sept.  4, 1946 - March 11, 2019

March 14, 2019:

Saddened by the unexpected March 11 death of retiree Rhonda Adams.

Rhonda Lorraine Wilson Adams, 72, of the city passed away suddenly on Monday, March 11, 2019.  Rhonda was born on September 4, 1946 in Winston-Salem, NC and was a graduate of Atkins High School Class of 1965. She continued her studies at McClain Business School in Winston-Salem.  She worked for a short time for the Experiment in Self-Reliance. She retired from Wachovia Bank where she worked for over thirty years in the Trust Operation and Banking Operation Centers.

Rhonda gave her life to Christ early in life. She was a member of United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church where she attended faithfully for over three decades under Pastors JD Ballard, Prince Rivers and now Alvin Armstead.  Rhonda, who was affectionately known as ‘Aunt’, loved coming to church and cherished praising the Lord.  She found delight in being with family and close friends more than anything.  Her greatest joy was cooking and preparing the family’s recipe of tea for special occasions.  She was preceded in death by her parents Haywood L. Wilson, Sr. and Margaret Hairston Wilson; her older brother, Dr. Haywood L. Wilson, Jr.; her aunts, Helen Wilson Banner and Hazel Wilson Hauser; and her uncle, Herman ‘Big Dawg’ Wilson.  She is survived by her siblings Bishop Ricky Bern Wilson (Mary) of Kernersville, NC and Ralena Wilson Wicker of Wilmington, NC.  She leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who were like her children- LaJoi Wilson, Haywood L. Wilson, III, Dr. Chevella Wilson, and Commander Arcelia Wicker (Thomasena); grand nephews and nieces- Montgomery Wilson Moore, Malcolm Xavier Wilson Kennion, Reese Elaine Wicker, Leah Elise Wicker; and scores of cousins and friends also mourn her passing.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Wednesday March 20, 2019 at United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Wednesday at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church Benevolence Fund.

Rhonda's voice is how I first met and knew her in the Wire Transfer Department.  She was a joy to meet and know later as we worked in the same building in W-S.  God has another loving angel~~~

I am so sadden to learn of the passing of Rhonda Adams.  I remember working with her in Trust Operations.  She was a hard worker,  We had a lot of fun working together.  I have many fond memories of those times.

I pray that her family and friends feel the warmth and comfort of God's love even during this time.

Sincerely,

Carol Brown Smith
