Charles Powell Thacker

Charles Powell Thacker (88) of Concord, NC (previously Clemmons, NC) passed away on 04/20/2023 at The Gardens of Taylor Glen. Mr. Thacker was born on September 24, 1934, in Charlotte, NC to the late William Franklin Thacker and Della Powell Thacker. Charles graduated from Harry P. Harding High School, Charlotte, NC in 1952. Upon graduation he was employed by Wachovia Bank and Trust Co. and transferred to Winston-Salem in 1977. He retired in 1993 after 41 years of service. Mr. Thacker was a long-time member of Clemmons United Methodist Church and served on various committees. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William F. Thacker Jr. and his sister, Nancy Thacker Poole. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Sue Davis Thacker, daughter Elizabeth Thacker Koenig (Mark), granddaughters Taylor, Lindsay and MacKenzie Koenig and brother-in-law Harvey L. Poole. He is survived by several nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Gardens of Taylor Glen for their compassionate care during his final days.

The family will receive relatives and friends for visitation on Sunday, May 7th at 1:00 pm at Clemmons United Methodist Church. The memorial service will begin at 2:00 and interment will immediately follow at Clemmons United Methodist Church Columbarium, for those wishing to attend.
