Mr Carlysle Allen Bethel, 91, died July 4, 1996.  He was born Sept 1, 1904 in Crew, Va, the son of Liston Linwood Bethel and Lois Ransone Bethel.
 

Carylsle attended the Univ of Va, and was graduated with a LLB Degree in 1928. Following graduation he joined the law firm of Carter, Ledyard and Milburn in New York City.   Carylsle joined the Trust Dept of Wachovia Bank in 1938.  He later was to become Head of the Trust Department and then Vice Chairman of the Board.   In 1958, he was elected President of the Trust Div of the American bankers Assoc.

After retirement from the bank, he joined Slick Enterprises in Winston-Salem.

Carylsle is survived by his wife, Ellen Bethel, daughter, Gracey McKeown of Atlanta, 2 grandchildren, John W McKeown of Atlanta, and Lois Fulwiler of Atlanta; 1 great grandchild, Guy Fulwiler, and 2 step children - Elizabeth Sloan of WS, and Brian Sloan, of Atlanta.
