Thomas Pruitt

Mr. Thomas Bryant Pruitt, Jr., 82, of Winston-Salem died Sat.,, Nov 17, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born February 28, 1930 in Surry County, the son of the late, Thomas Bryant Pruitt, Sr. and Bessie Elizabeth Hodge Pruitt. Mr. Pruitt was a member of Friedland Moravian Church for 60 years where he served as an Usher, Board Member, Diener and Cub Scout Master. He served proudly with the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.
 
He retired from Wachovia Bank & Trust as an Assistant Vice President after 40 years of service.
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin brothers at birth and a brother, Roy B. Pruitt and two sisters, Ruby Adams and Irene Little. He said he was a millionaire due to the love of his wife, his children and his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Jean Yates Pruitt of the home; two sons, Marshal K. Pruitt (SuEllen) of Winston-Salem and Darren J. Pruitt (Susan) of Kernersville; one daughter, Dru Ellen P. Brown of Spruce Pine; five grandchildren, Kara Brown, Hannah B. Blanton (Travis), Ashley P. Welborn (Brandon), Zachary Pruitt and Christopher Rogers (Courtney); four sisters, Ruth Parks, Rosa Vestal (Troy) and Younnie Lee Elliott all of Winston-Salem and Betty Reavis (Jerry) of Yadkinville; and two brothers, Leon David Pruitt (Barbara) of Winston-Salem and Eugene Pruitt (Pat) of Kernersville. The funeral service will be conducted Monday at 2:00 PM at Friedland Moravian Church with Rev. Carol Foltz and Rev. David Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway.
