James H. Newbury, 85,  was called home on Sunday, December 16, 2012 .. He fought a long battle with dementia and passed peacefully at his daughter's home with family at his side.

 In 1951, he joined Wachovia Bank & Trust Company and rose to Senior Vice President ofMarketing. He was namedone of the nine membersof Wachovia's Management Committee. In 1971, he started his own consulting firm and consulted with 20% of the top 300 banks in the U.S. He had a very successful career that allowed him to travel extensively, which he enjoyed immensely. He was married on Valentine's Day in 1953 to the love of his life, his constant companion and wife of 59 years. He was a good father, husband and PaPa. He never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was positive and kept his sense of humor to the end. He made friends for life and cherished each and every one. He is survived by his wife,Juanita Cox Newbury; sons, James H. Newbury, III (Claire) of Decatur GA and their child, Jackson; David Emmons Newbury (Mary) and their children, Ashton, Jake, Spencer, Sydney and Dalton; and daughter, Beth Newbury Davenport (Tony) and their children, Ryan and Morgan, all of Winston-Salem. "He has achieved success, who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much." He will be sorely missed.

The family will receive friends on Thurs., Dec 20, from 6-8pm at Frank Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11am. on Friday,Dec 21, at the funeral home with Dr. Cecil Cave officiating. Interment will take place at Forsyth Memorial Park.
