Iris Amos

 

 

Iris Snow Amos, age 80, of 3000 Salemtowne Drive, Winston-Salem, NC, died Sunday, January 12, 2014 after a long struggle with ALS. She was born December 30, 1933 to the Rev. Brady Foley Snow and Nannie Cassidy Snow in Surry County. In 1951 she graduated from Lowgap High School as the Valedictorian of her class. She then came to Winston-Salem to work for Wachovia Bank and Trust Company. When T.K. Amos came back from the Korean War and returned to Wachovia, they met and were married on August 13, 1955.

Mrs. Amos was known for her kindness and sweet spirit. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Pamela Kaye Amos Meyerhoeffer (Brian); son, Richard Ray Amos; five grandchildren, Sean, Bryan and Lindsay Marsden and Matthew and Sarah Faith Amos; two great-grandchildren, Madeline Kaye Marsden and Hailey Elizabeth Marsden; one brother, Henry Snow; and her sister, Irene Snow. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Herbert and Harry Snow.



The funeral service will be held at Home Moravian Church on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Richard L. Sides and The Right Rev. Graham Rights officiating. Interment will follow in God's Acre at Salem Moravian Graveyard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Home Moravian Church Parlor.
