Mrs. Jackie Markland, 79 of Winston Salem died Saturday, July 18, 2009 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice home. She was born September 21, 1929 in Forsyth County to Emmett Yancey and Mamie Inscore Edwards. Mrs. Markland was a member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church. She graduated from Gray High School, and was retired from Wachovia Bank. She is survived by one sister, Thelma Elledge and husband Clifton of Reidsville, one brother, Emmett Edwards, Jr. and wife Peggy of North Wilkesboro, one daughter Beverly Markland of Tobaccoville, two sons, Michael Markland and wife Robin of Clemmons and Scott Markland of Kernersville. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Brandon Markland and Jamie Markland of Clemmons. A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 pm at New Philadelphia Moravian Church graveyard by Dr. David Marcus, Jr. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to New Philadelphia Moravian Church, 4440 Country Club Rd. 27104 or Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
