ROCKETTE WINSTON-SALEM Peggy Switzer Rockette June 18, 1948- May 3, 2014 Mrs. Peggy Switzer Rockette was born June 18, 1948 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Richard and Anna Lee Switzer. On Saturday May 3, 2014 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, God extended his hand calling his child home to rest peacefully in his arms. Peggy is survived by her devoted husband, Kenard C. Rockette; loving son, Dedrick F. Switzer; two stepchildren, Kenard C. (Donna) Rockette, Jr. of Minnesota and Kim Rockette of Winston Salem, NC; siblings, Richard (Pam) Switzer, Faye Switzer, Harold Lynn Switzer, Renrick Switzer, Vincent Switzer, all of Winston-Salem, and Ray (Linda) Switzer of Mays Landing, New Jersey; mother-in-law, Helen Thompson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends.

Peggy attended Anderson High School and was a graduate of Winston-Salem State University. She worked for Wachovia Bank and Trust (Wells Fargo) for many years and also served as a substitute teacher and a teacher's assistant for the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System. Peggy was a long time member of Friendship Baptist Missionary Church in Winston-Salem, NC. She was a very active member serving on the Deaconess and Usher Boards and as a Sunday school teacher. Peggy was also a member of the Forsyth County Missionary Union. The family will receive friends 12:15p.m., Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Friendship Baptist Church with funeral services following at 1:00p.m. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
