MINNICH, Jr., William R. "Bill" William R Minnich Jr. (Bill) died peacefully Saturday, January 19th, in Brevard NC after a brief illness. A memorial service is planned for Friday, February 1 at 2 PM at Lake Toxaway United Methodist Church in Lake Toxaway, NC. Bill was the son of William R and Caroline P Minnich of Atlanta. Bill graduated from Georgia Military Academy (now Woodward Academy) and the University of Georgia where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and a lifelong Dawg supporter. After graduating Bill spent many years in the banking industry until he retired in 1995. Bill and his wife, Sherry, spent the last 30 years enjoying their homes in Lake Toxaway, NC and McIntosh County, GA and traveling around the world, where they met and made many friends. Bill was a friendly soul who felt it was his responsibility to give back to community, whether it was through volunteering, fund raising or as a board member. Some of his favorite charities included CarePartners Hospice, Boys and Girls Club, DonorsChoose.org and the many organizations supported by his church.

Bill was a true southern gentleman. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and storytelling, his love for fishing and his innate ability to make everyone he met feel welcome. Bill is survived by his wife Sherry Gordon Minnich, his sister Gail Minnich Watson (David), many loving nieces and nephews and his dog Blue. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Cary Minnich Lide.
