Winston-Salem Dec. 9, 1928 - July 16, 2016 William (Bill) Austin Brackney, 87, of Homestead Hills, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016, at his Homestead Hills home. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife (married 63 years), Betty Lou Brackney. He is also survived by his children, William Brackney of Asheville, NC, Scott Brackney of Charlotte, NC, and Douglas Brackney of Mooresville, NC; grandchildren, Ashley Brackney Murray of Winston-Salem, NC, Austin Brackney of Kernersville, NC and Justin Brackney of Spartanburg, SC. Mr. Brackney is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Elliott Murray and Henry Murray, the children of Ashley and James Murray, and Lucie Brackney, the daughter of Austin and Katie Brackney.

The Brackney family will conduct a private memorial for Bill. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
