Mr. Floyd Elmer Gwyn, Jr., age 63, of Pilot Mountain, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017, at his home. Mr. Gwyn was born in Forsyth County on September 27, 1953, to Betty Durham Gwyn and the late Floyd Elmo Gwyn, Sr. He was a former Captain with the Surry County Sherriff’s Department and was employed with Wachovia Bank around thirty years. Along with his dear mother, those who will always cherish his memory are his wife, Kathy Wheeler Gwyn; a son, Floyd “Tripp” Gwyn, III and spouse, Jeremy Owens; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Frances Gwyn, and James and Sherry Gwyn; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. In addition to his father, Mr. Gwyn was preceded in death by an infant sister, Betty Marie Gwyn. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Jack Danley and Rev. John Pillsbury. Burial will follow in Whitaker Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 AM. I remember when Floyd came to the Security Group. He was such a nice guy and very professional in every thing he did. I enjoyed swapping "lies" with him on several ocassions. This is such a surprise and a shock to all Wachovians who knew him. He will be missed. RIP Brother.
