Victor Jamison

RALEIGH July 12, 1932 - November 8, 2018 Mr. Victor Jamison Jr., 86, passed away on November 8, 2018 in Raleigh, NC. Vic was born on July 12, 1932 in Dover, Delaware to Victor and Gladys Pratt Jamison. Vic graduated from Dover High School in 1950 and honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. He was a Korean War veteran and was discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1959 with a BS degree. He was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Eta Sigma honor societies. He began his career with Southern Bell in 1959 and later joined Wachovia Insurance in 1963. He served in the insurance industry in various capacities ending with Surry Insurance as the Manager of the Winston-Salem Office in 2011. It was in Winston-Salem where Vic went on a blind date and met his future bride, Kathleen. They were married for 34 years. Vic was an avid reader and a passionate UNC Tarheel fan. He was happiest at the ocean or poolside with family and friends as well as time spent with his buddy Charlie Sweigart. He is survived by his wife Kathleen Jamison of Raleigh, NC; his children Bliss Jamison Massey (husband John) of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Dorian Jamison of Kernersville, NC, Natalie McGehee (husband Doug) of Houston, TX & Cheri Phillips (husband Eric) of Raleigh, NC, grandchildren; Erin McGehee, Brendan McGehee (wife Carrie), Allyson McGehee (husband Colby), Jessica Phillips Smith (husband Justin), Erica Phillips and Hallie Phillips. In addition, he is survived by his Sister Nancy Jamison of Dover, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends make donations to Transitions Life Care in honor of the hospice care Vic received. https://transitionslifecare.org/donate/.
