I worked closely with Jim from the time Wachovia merged with First Atlanta until Jim retired. I met with him many times when he would come to Winston-Salem or I would go to Atlanta to review construction projects going on across Georgia. Jim always greeted people with a smile and took a very professional approach as he managed the many building projects going on across his state. I always knew that when I called Jim with a question he would have the answer, or knew immediately who to call for the answer, and I knew I would hear back from him quickly. Jim was absolutely trustworthy and dependable, a valued employee of both First Atlanta and Wachovia. Top management of both organizations knew Jim personally and spoke highly of him. I will truly miss the conversations he and I have continued to have every Christmas since he and I retired many years ago.

When we opened the Delaware Bank in the summer of 1986, Jim committed full time project managers to quick track the buildout as we had a tight schedule and fixed deadline to get the facility open. I got to know Jim well during that period. He was great to work with and there wasn't any issues that came up that he didn't get resolved quickly. I had a lot of respect for Jim as he was a man of his word and he did whatever necessary to get the job finished. RIP my friend.
