Mr. Robert Eugene Wilkins, 86, of Lexington, passed away Monday, May 17, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Forsyth County on May 17, 1935, to the late Arthur McKinley and Mary Ledford Wilkins. Mr. Wilkins was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School for over twenty years. He also taught Sunday School at Kerwin Baptist Church. Mr. Wilkins was retired from Wachovia Bank with thirty-five loyal years of service. He loved woodworking and making gifts for family and friends. Mr. Wilkins was a proud veteran who served his country in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilkins is preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Gary Wilkins. Surviving is his loving wife of sixty-five years, Patricia Wilkins; daughter, Cindy Zimmerman and husband Jeff; son, Dennis Wilkins and Helen of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren: Danielle Z. Nelms and husband Jon, Ryan Zimmerman and wife Chelsea, and Courtney Wilkins; four great-grandchildren: Emma and Wade Zimmerman, and Brantley and Carly Nelms; and a brother, John Wilkins and wife Barbara of Kernersville. 

Funeral services at 2pm May 23 at Union Grove Baptist Church. Interment with military honors will follow in the church cemetary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Grove Baptist Church, 2295 Union Grove Road, Lexington, NC 27295.
