Dwight Carlo Roope, age 86, of Bethania, passed away on August 11, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Wilkes County on March 15th. Dwight was married to his beloved spouse, Jean Brooks Roope for 63 years. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Lestus and Eva Roope, and brother, Ulysee Roope. He leaves behind his wife Jean Roope, their daughter Carla Roope, three grandchildren Mariam, Yousef and Yacoub Al-Masri, and a sister-in-law Delilah Roope.

Dwight retired from Wells Fargo Bank. He was a long-time member of Becks Baptist Church. He was creative and loved challenges. This was apparent throughout his life but especially when he built a beautiful beach house for his family, a perpetual reminder of his legacy and creative spirit. He obtained a commercial pilot license in 1972 and took pride in flying with his daughter across the sky. He loved camping with his family and adored his two dogs. In his later years, he fought Parkinson’s disease with all he had, always displaying his tenacity under any circumstance. His family will remember all the challenges he faced and will know that because of him, strength and resilience runs through their blood.

A funeral srvice will be held Aug. 15 at 2pm @ Beck's Baptist Church in Winston-Salem.  The burial will follow the funeral at the church gravesite.
