Roscoe Robert Thomas (63) was born to Irvin E. Thomas and Lucille W. Thomas in Atlantic City, New Jersey on November 26, 1958. He departed this life suddenly on June 5, 2022, in Winston-Salem, NC.
Following in the footsteps of his father, Roscoe joined the US Army and served his country from 1976 to 1979. After leaving the military, Roscoe worked at Wachovia/Wells Fargo Bank for over twenty-five years and held several positions including Vice President of Information Systems and Project Manager. He retired in 2019. He was a world traveler and enjoyed fishing, running marathons, and spending time with his grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Papa”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Aaron Thomas. He leaves to cherish his memory three loving daughters, Stacy King of Raleigh, NC, Vanessa Thomas of Morrisville, NC and Jacqueline “Jacque” Quarles (Kashif) of Lexington, NC; six grandchildren: Mikayla, Jeremiah, Taylor, Alyssa, Sophia and Isaiah; siblings: five sisters, Arleen Best (Richard) of Anderson Creek, NC, Barbara Faison and Vivian Downs both of Fayetteville, NC, Julia Hickman Swilling (Gary) of Columbia, MD, Wanda Clark of Hepzibah, GA; three brothers, Jack Thomas (Pam) and Irvin E. Thomas, Jr. both of Fayetteville, NC, Kenneth Thomas of Spring Lake; a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
A public viewing will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2022 from 12:00 noon – 6:00 p.m. at Hooper Funeral Home, 1415 14th Street NE, Winston-Salem, NC. A celebration of life service will be conducted on Monday, June 13, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Boulevard Salisbury, NC 28144.
