Linda Nunnery Gillikin
July 3, 1947 - September 25, 2022
Raleigh, North Carolina - Linda Nunnery Gillikin, 75, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Transitions HospiceCare in Raleigh. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, a respected businesswoman and an avid beach lover.
Born in Portsmouth, VA, Linda was born on July 3, 1947 to Abbi Carter and Bainbridge Nunnery. Linda attended Portsmouth High School and Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA where she studied business and literature. Linda married Joe, her high school sweetheart, on April 11, 1970. They moved to Raleigh in 1972 where they have lived for over 50 years.
Linda began her career with Wachovia Bank 35 years ago where she started as a teller and worked her way up to the Branch Manager/Vice President. She managed the Hayes Barton Five Points branch for over 16 years. Linda won numerous awards for stellar service in her field. She was dearly loved by so many customers she served each day.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Joseph Ray Gillikin; two children, Heather Gillikin Mills (John) and Joseph Ray Gillikin, Jr (Jennifer). "Kit Kat" loved her seven grandchildren, Benjamin, Thomas, Tyler and Abbey Mills; and Sara Cate, Andrew and Luke Gillikin.
Funeral services celebrating Linda's life will be at the columbarium at Raleigh Memorial Park, located at 7501 Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh on Saturday, October 8 at 1:30 p.m with Jonathan Lotz presiding.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to StepUp Ministry, located at 1701 Oberlin Road, Raleigh, NC 27608.
