I am very sorry to learn of David's passing. He and I gew up down the street from each other in Asheville, NC, and our families were good friends. David had a positive influence on me and was one reason I attended Washington and Lee University not long after he graduated from there. When I joined Wachovia in 1974, David was already well established in his distinguished career at the Bank. We visited often during the course of our time at Wachovia. David always was one to speak his mind directly, and I valued his opinions, even when we disagreed from time to time. David was a gentleman who in life stood fast to the principles that made Wachovia the fine company it was.  Blessed to know him - Rick Armstrong

I too was saddened to hear about the death of David. I reported to him for several years after he became manager of the General Services Group, and also worked with him when he was previously in Asheville and Atlanta. I considered him a dear friend and exceptional manager. I can't remember ever approaching his doorway when he didn't welcome me in with a smile and ask me to have a seat. He would frequently pick up the phone before I left and get us the assistance we needed to get past a particular issue. I remember having dinner with him many times in the evening when he worked in Winston-Salem while still residing in Atlanta. Conversations with him were always interesting and entertaining. I just read an email that described David as one of the 'Good Guys', he was certainly that, and a dedicated Wachovian. I will always remember him.

Rick and Gary "said it well".. I think I first met David in the Ashboro Office but my memory is not clear on that..

Very pleasant and competent and a joy to be around.. we had a great team at "Old Wachovia" and he was a key player.

Rest in Peace.

So very sorry to hear of David’s passing. He’s firmly fixed in my memory as a cornerstone in the customer service/operations/marketing officers from whom I learned so much back in the ‘60’s.
