John was one of the kindest people that I had the pleasure to work with. He was  liked and respected by all who knew him. I know he will be missed by many people.

John was my first boss at Wachovia and one of the best. We seemed always in sync. He was very smart but low key and very effective.

He did believe in the dress code.  The first year I was at WB I showed up on the day after Thanksgiving in a blue blazer, gray slacks and tie. John commented, “My, aren’t we casual today!”  John was a good friend and a true gentleman.

John Burwell was one of the nicest gentlemen I ever knew at Wachovia.  He was most effective and had a fantastic ability to make mole hills out of mountains.
