WINSTON-SALEM December 15, 1937 - November 23, 2017 Robert Lee Davis, 79, died November 23, 2017 after a long illness. He was a member of Knollwood Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for many years. He was also a little league baseball coach for the Winston-Salem Nationals. Bob loved all things Wake Forest, especially basketball. Bob showed his love for people by making beautiful pieces of furniture, planting flowers and gardens, and helping remodel homes. Bob is survived by his wife, Krystyna Davis; his son, Robert L. Davis, Jr. (Rose); his daughter, Lou Steen; and his grandchildren, Lee Davis, Tate Davis, Hannah Steen, Joseph Steen, and Mary Davis Steen. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Knollwood Baptist Church.

Bob was my manager at Wachovia Services until we were purchesed by Anacomp in 1974. He worked closely with his staff on conversions and guidence throughout. He was also fun when he traveled with my team on conversions of many banks. He was well liked and respected. He'll be missed.

I am the one who convinced Bob to join Wachovia Services and be in charge of the Raleigh Office..
He was a great guy, very competent and hard working. I loved traveling with Bob to visit our banking customers and prospects.
If you wanted the job to be done right, you asked Bob to do it. It is so sad that his health deteriorated and he suffered so .. yet he still had his smile.
Go Deacs!!!

I have great memories of Bob. Mostly fun stuff.
I once asked him why I had not had an employee review in several years. His reply, "I review you every day. You must be doing ok. You're still here".
One of the many great Wachovians.

Bob hired me as a contractor in 1990, then as a full time employee in 1991. He was my manager for several years and encouraged me to take a position that moved me into a different area although I still worked closely with him. Bob taught me so much over those years and was aways supportive and encouraging. He could be tough, but was always fair. No matter where I worked at Wachovia I could always go to him for advice. He was a good man both professionally and personally. Bob will be sorely missed.

I happened to be in the Wells Clemmons branch a couple of weeks back. The teller who handled my deposit, thru conversation found that I worked for Wachovia. She asked me if I knew
Bob Davis. I replied yes I did know him and that he was my boss for 8 or so years. She was is daughter. That is how I learned of Bob's passing. He was a great person and that carried over to our work.
When we walk into a legacy WB branch we see all of the terminals, pinters, etc. Under Bob's leadership "Branch Automation" became a reality. You could say he was a pioneer.
I shared a tear or two. I could not help it.
