Ralph was one of the 'Phillips Building' days members of Old Wachovia IT. Very nice guy. He joined during a period of major growth (and change!). Ralph fit the culture right away... reliable, committed to quality. His obit mentions his love of reading the newspapers. I remember that he always had a copy of the latest USA Today (it was a 'new' thing at the time) to scan through on breaks or lunch there in our floor. Condolences to his family.
Trex was one of the smartest and nicest people I had the opportunity to work with in my career. He was generous with his time and always helped you succeed. I had a role at one point where we were looking ahead where software technology was going and had a standing one-on-one meeting with Gene every week. I learned so much from him and was always astonished by his accumulated knowledge , his interest in the lastest trends, and the range of his curiosity. As other comments mentioned, if things weren't going well, Gene was the go to resource. Everyone one who knew him respected him. Thank you Gene
I had the opportunity to work with Roy during the mid-80's and always had a lot of respect for him. I was in the IT group and parts of my job involved coordinating IT Standard and audit responses with Roy's department. I learned many career enhancing skills from Roy about audit, negotiations, doing things right, and selecting the RIGHT words to make a point and communicate without overplaying your hand. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was alway patient with me as he passed on many useful skills which I (at the time) may not have thought I needed to learn. That Wachovia era (especially with IT) saw a lot of change and I am glad to have been a part of it and to have had Roy's guidance along the way. Reading Roy's obit. confirms a lot for me. He LOVED to discuss and negotiate a point... but always in a positive spirit. He had a great life and made a huge contribution to Wachovia during his career.
