Boris, irascible as he could be, was one of my favorite people at Wachovia, beginning with my employment at First At!anta. The last time I saw him was in Tampa, when he accompanied Bud Baker on what was his farewell tour. When Boris got in my car for the ride to the airport, he was incredulous that there was no.ashtray...had been waiting thru the whole meeting to have a smoke! We improvised.... Rest in peace, old friend.

Boris was probably the best Director of Security I have ever encountered. I was honored to work closely with him. He liked the facade of his tough, no-nonsense exterior, but had one of the most kind and gracious hearts of anyone I ever knew. Boris was First Atlanta's and Wachovia's James Bond. He was truly a force of nature and a devoted Wachovian. We may never see his likes again, and we are all lessened by that. Rest in Peace Mr. Melnikoff. He is now probably standing at the Pearly Gates with St. Peter doing background checks, and keeping St. Peter informed of what is really going on in Heaven on a Daily basis.

Good Old Boris!! A treasure to say the least.. He was an expert in his field and could be tough and funny in the same breath. I liked him instantly upon meeting him. We swapped many stories in our time together.. I have missed him for years and not sure if he will let me through those gates in heaven however, if i bring some special liquid wih me, I may have a chance.. RIP, Old Friend.

I was fortunate enough to work with Boris on a several occasions and always was impressed by his dedication to his craft and his consumate professionalism. Time spent with Boris was always informative and never dull what with his treasure trove of yarns and stories.

I met Boris shortly after being transferred to Atlanta from W-S in 1986. Tough exterior but heart of gold. Two memories reinforce that view of Boris. First one: sometime in the early 90's, I was driving back to Atlanta on I-16 from a customer outing at Sea Island and needed to check in with the office before folks left. Way before cell phones and exits on I-16 were 20 miles apart and not a pay phone at each one. Driving that white bank car really hard and blue lights appear. The next morning I called Boris to see if he could help me with a ticket. "Can you afford to pay it? Then pay the damn ticket and don't call me for help on something you can handle yourself."
Second one: November, 1987. Boris walked in my office and closed the door. "One of your bankers has been embezzling funds from his biggest customer's accounts. He's in my office now and we have to bring the police in, but he wants to talk to you before he's arrested." A very long trip to his office, but on the way, he opens a door and shoves me into a room where my wife and co-workers have put together a surprise 50th birthday party
for me. Heart of gold guy who reminded me how clueless I was that day every single time I saw him!
