I was very saddened to hear yesterday of Dick's passing. While not working closely with him during our early years at Wachovia, I got to know him later in our careers, and especially after we both retired. I would especially enjoy conversations with him at bank functions. Conversations with Dick were always very enlightening, I considered him one of the smartest people I knew. He could provide in-depth information on most any subject. He would always greet me with his sincere smile and friendly handshake. He was an asset to Wachovia and our community. I will miss him.       Gary

Dick was a very smart man but he never overwhelmed anyone with his keen intellect. His easy going and friendly approach, almost shy at times, made conversations with him so interesting. I worked with him occasionally during the General Operations Schools we put on for management trainees. He was a popular instructor and a mentor to many a successful corporate banker. The adventure outings he organized and the volleyball games in his back yard were legendary among the corporate banking team. He so much cared for Wachovia and throughout his career did amazing work to ensure it was successful and respected.

Dick was my boss for a number of years, and I could not have had a better one.  I so much enjoyed traveling with him, and he was always a lot of fun to be around.  Dick was a very thoughtful and caring individual, and I will truly miss him.  When I think of my time at Wachovia, I will always think of Dick.

I am so sad to hear of Mr. Snelsire's passing. He and my Dad, Art Dunphy, worked together and had so many great adventures, including trips following the LPGA tour, trips to the mountains, Appalachian trail, lake, WFU basksetball games and also Par 3 at Tanglewood on Fridays with the Fearsome Foursome with Bob Regan and Bo Brookby. He was one of my Dad's best friends and such a kind man. Sending love and prayers to his family.

I first met Dick when we were Management trainees at Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh PA in January 1961 and we have been friends eversince.

When I joined Wachovia in 1964 I quicly learned it was a great place to work so I called Dick to see if he was willing to come for an interview.. He came and Sam Castleman hired him in the Marketting area principally to research branch locations. Dick arrived, liked the atmoasphere, , I helped him look for housing and he "took off" from there for a very succesful career at WB and Salem A&C. His wife Ann and my wife Joan were great friends and we  did many things together as families. Dick & Ann raised great kids who so loved their mom and dad.

In the many years I have known Dick , I never heared anyone say a bad comment about him. That may be a world record in the Banking business...

I remember well, a recent lunch with Dick after his visit with the Doctor and Dick told me the Doc said he had 1 year to live, I wasn't sure if he was kidding me and sadly learned he was not kidding....

Rest in Peace Good Friend, I am blessed to have known you and have you as a close friend....

We had such an amazing group of ladies and gentlemen at Wachovia back in the 60's and 70's, of which Dick Snelsire was one. I remember Dick's terrific personality, kindness and intellect. He was always a pleasure to be around.
I send my deepest condolences to his family. I am thankful to have known him.
